This house drops steeply to the foreshore with magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge. The site was excavated by cutting deeply into the sandstone to form a level platform base for the residence and garaging placed on the street level. A high speed lift drops to a two-storey gallery and a courtyard which houses the front door of the home. The major rooms open onto this courtyard which links all rooms of the house. All architectural features are specific for the house with stone columns and balustrades designed in Australia and made in Europe. Over 600 detailed working drawings were produced over a period of 4 years to complete the design.
